As part of a strategic move towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and reducing the burden of preventable illnesses, the Government is actively shifting its focus from curative healthcare to preventative and promotive health measures.
In pursuit of this objective, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Development partners, has embarked on the establishment of Primary Care Networks. These networks aim to enhance the efficiency of diagnosis and referrals at the community level.
Engaging with officials from Population Service Kenya, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, explored strategies to foster a culture of proactive health-seeking behaviors within communities.
Population Service Kenya’s long-standing collaboration with the Ministry of Health, particularly in Health Promotion and Social & Behaviour Change Communication (SBC), underscores the commitment to a holistic approach.
Reiterating this commitment, the PS emphasized that such partnerships will empower communities to make informed health decisions, aligning seamlessly with the comprehensive #AfyaBoraMashinani agenda and contributing to a healthier, more productive nation.
