22 People, Among Them 4 Children, Killed After Bus Plunges Into Enziu River In Kitui
A school bus on Saturday plunged into River Enziu in Kitui County killing at least 22 people, among them four children.
The bus, which was trying to cross a flooded bridge, was overpowered by the waters and tripped over with passengers on board.
The bus belonging to St. Joseph Seminary School in Mwingi is said to have been moving from Mwingi town to Nuu ferrying church choir members to a wedding function when tragedy struck.
Confirming the incident, Mwingi East OCPD Joseph Yakan revealed that the school bus had approximately 50 passengers on board at the time of the incident.
