Former Laikipia Women Representative Demands Clarity on Gachagua’s Impeachment Motion
Amid growing tension within the Kenya Kwanza coalition, former Laikipia County Women Representative Cate Waruguru has called for a serious explanation regarding the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Waruguru criticized the lawmakers behind the motion, asserting that the allegations are politically motivated and lack substance. Taking to social media, she stated, “Impeachment shouldn’t be prosecuted on social media but rather in the designated chambers. I challenge the purported signatories to clarify the grounds for this motion to the Kenyan public.”
She expressed concern that the impeachment push appears driven by self-interest, claiming many MPs were swayed by financial incentives rather than genuine grievances. “It seems like a trade of cash for signatures, with many MPs acting out of greed without fully understanding the allegations in question,” Waruguru said.
Emphasizing her belief that the impeachment effort is unfounded, she urged Kenyans to view the situation as mere political theatrics. As the situation develops, Waruguru’s comments highlight the internal conflicts within the ruling coalition and raise questions about the motivations behind the impeachment attempt.
