NEW CANCER CLINIC OPENED AT KAPSABET COUNTY REFERRAL HOSPITAL

Kapsabet County Referral Hospital (KCRH ) courtesy of several partners among them County First Ladies’ Association (CFLA) now has a special cancer clinic .

H. E First Lady Sheila Sang commissioned the Clinic at a ceremony attended by 12 First Ladies led by their Chaiperson Maria Mbeneka First Lady Laikipia County.

Nandi today became the 12th county to launch the Empower Clinic after it was started in the country in June last year, being among the 8 counties to Pilot Early Cancer Detection and Treatment Project

County first ladies are leading in the awareness of the menace and urging people to go for cancer screening.

The County boss,Governor Sang, while welcoming County First Ladies’ Association (CFLA), urged the residents to make good use of the upgraded facilities at the hospital.

The oncology clinic will screen breast, cervical and prostrate cancers. The First Lady Sheila Sang said this is a move geared towards attainment of universal healthcare in Nandi, by introducing such milestone support structures like the Empower Project.

The launch of the clinic, which is now inside kapsabet County and Referral Hospital, shows the commitment of the county government to provide quality healthcare for all its netizens.

The Deputy Governor Yulita Cheruiyot, mentioned
that the Empower Project will enable the county do better screening and provide other medical services, adding that the county is moving it’s focus more on preventive and promotive health services to save on millions of shillings spent on curing preventable diseases.

CECM for health Ruth Koech at the event added that early detection of cancer has saved so many lives,she urged the women to go for routine check ups and make it a norm to tag a long their elderly persons for all types of cancer.

Among the donations made from National cancer control program are, 1800 speculums, a thermocoagulator , a lip machine, biopsy guns and pap kits,

The project is a result of partnership efforts of the County First Ladies’ Association (CFLA), office of the First Lady or the Republic of Kenya through Beyond Zero, Africa Cancer Foundation, National cancer control program, International Cancer Institute, Women 4 Cancer and ROCHE.

EMPOWER is an acronym standing for Enabling and Motivating Partnerships Owned by Women Who Engage and Reclaim their lives.

MCA Kilibwoni ward, Hon. Cynthia Muge assured the public that on their part they will move motions on the floor that champion for the cancer screenings to be mobile and brought closer to the people.
