A section of the Minority community living in Uasin Gishu has rubbished the 2022 senatorial bid by Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mnadago.

Led by Kimani Wakili Wanjohi they said governor Mandago should retire peacefully just like other second-term governors.

“As Minisirity community we want governor Jackson Mandago to go home just like other governors who have served their second term in office and should not seek for any elective seat,” said Wakili Wanjohi while speaking to the press.

He said under his administration hustlers suffered a lot especially hawkers who were doing their businesses in the Eldoret CBD.

“It’s sad that governor Mandago now wants to contest for the Uasin Gishu Senatorial seat using the UDA party which is meant for hustlers yet he has been fighting hustlers every now and then. We will not elect him as a senator but should instead look for a national post,” added Wakili Wanjohi.

He further said that any gubernatorial aspirant should sit down with the minority community to ensure that they are given 30 percent of representation.

“We want to tell those contesting for any political seat this time around we will not allow them to use and dump us, they must assure us that they will give us the 30 percent meant for the minority,” he added.

They, however, said they will move from constituency to constituency preaching peace.

“We want to ensure that we have peace before, during, and after the 2022 general elections. We want residents to vote peacefully and ensure that they elect leaders without being threatened or coerced,” said Wanjohi.

They however hit at the UDA party which is linked to the deputy president William Ruto for sidelining them in their leadership key positions in the County.

“Before devolution, we had over ten councilors but it’s sad that I am speaking we only have two MCA’s, of twenty nominated MCA’S only one from the minority was given the position and not forgetting that out of 12 CEC’s only one was given to the Minority, this is a total misrepresentation of the Minority,” he said.
