RESOURCE MOBILIZATION IS CRITICAL- BUSIA DG
Resource mobilization is a critical area that needs to be addressed by the County Government of Busia, Deputy Governor, H.E Moses Mulomi has revealed.
Addressing County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers and Directors during a meeting to plan for the visiting Joint Donors Mission in the county on January 11th, 2022, the DG noted that Resource Mobilization is not only about raising revenue which is good.
” It’s a big sector that need to be addressed effectively by the County Government. We need a desk officer, who is senior, to follow up on the County Government’s proposals to various agencies and their programs,” he said.
Various departments including the Governorship, Public Service and Administration, County Public Service Board, Agriculture, Health, Water, Finance and Culture and Social Services made their presentations on their successes, challenges and interventions.
Kenya Devolution Support Program focal person, Robert Papa said the donor mission visit to the county will focus on Covid-19 and its aftermath, nutrition, reproductive health and HIV/Aids among others.
According to the itinerary, the donors accompanied by officers from the National Government will pay a courtesy call to the Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong next Tuesday.
They will then hold a day-long meeting with CECMs, Chief Officers and Directors where they will deliberate on various issues including Public Finance Management, County Monitoring and Evaluation, policy support, public participation and CSOs work, Covid-19 support and performance Management System.
Day two of their visit will start with a courtesy call to Busia County Assembly Speaker, Hon. Bernard Wamalwa before meeting with County Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee Members.
They will end their tour by field visits including Gender Recovery Centre and Maternity wing at BCRH, Youth Centre at Butula, Integrated primary school garden in Butula and FIDA/TICH activities/beneficiaries at Busia ATC.
