You’re responsible for how long you let what hurt you to haunt you- Benjamin Zulu

You’re responsible for how long you let what hurt you to haunt you. As soon as you’re free from those who wounded you, you can either pause and nurse yourself back to health or you can let the pain determine your pace and replace your purpose.

The weight of the injustice, if you don’t offload it soonest, can sink in and fester so that it contaminates your entire personality.

There are many people today walking around fearful and withdrawn or bitter and they weren’t born like that. They were once warm and sociable. Others are emotionally frail and over sensitive and yet they used to be free spirited and easy going. Others are suspicious and hesitant to trust and yet they started life being friendly and charming. But then a bad breakup happened to them. Or a mean parent happened to them. Or they encountered betrayal from a friend. Or they were harassed and traumatised for a long time at work.

And they took too long to address the pain. So over time the pain sunk to the fiber of their being and they now live as a caricature of their former selves. When they remember who they used to be it aches them. They know they should return to their nature but they hate the work it will take.

Solution? You will never feel at home anywhere else other than in your original nature. Take a u-turn and return to yourself. It may take some work and some pain but this time there will be fulfilment because you’ll be removing what never belonged to you from the beginning.
