County develops Commutation framework to engage stakeholders actively
The County government is in the process of developing a clear Communications framework that will ensure active engagement between the administration and its clients.
Courtesy of the Kenya Devolution Support Programs rolled out under the department of Public Service Management, the policy seeks to disseminate accurate and objective information to the right audience.
It also intends to have the audience understand well the county policies, programs, services and initiatives hence engage them actively in governance matters.
Consequently, to realize the County’s communication goal, the policy outlines core principles of good communication practice as a guide to its stakeholders.
Speaking at a stakeholders meeting in Kitale on Tuesday, deputy county secretary Gideon Sawe said it is appropriate to adapt these principles to suit a working environment saying this will provide guidelines on the engagements between the county staff and members of the public.
Sawe said the policy document shall be designed to support the county’s mandate as spelt out in the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya 2010 and the County Governments Act 2012.
“It is therefore expected that the policy shall act as a guideline for the development and improvement of government communication at county level,” affirmed the deputy CS.
Public Service Chief Officer Dr. Robert Masinde said that the communication strategy framework will enable all stakeholders and partners to share content and reach consensus on the best way to progress.
With an agreed communication strategy framework, employees and partners have a map they can refer to via the various phases of the programme development.
The County Government shall hence seek to communicate effectively with the internal and external stakeholders ensuring alignment with its vision, strategies, and objectives.
This is in line with the constitutional guarantee of freedom of expression and the right of access to information as stipulated in article 35 of the constitution of Kenya.
Also present at the forum were the Director of Training Dr. Johnston Wanjala, KDSP Program Coordinator Dr. Scholastica Nalobile among other stakeholders.
