The National Government Should Suspend National Examination-Human Rights Activist
Centre for Human Rights and Mediation (CHRM) CEO Nick Omito now wants the National Examination to be suspended in the volatile Kerio Valley.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town said thee insecurity in the region is dire and students will not be able to sit for the examinations at ease.
“As Human Rights activists what we are saying is that we are calling upon the government through the Ministry of Education to suspend National Examinations in the volatile Kerio Valley because the situation is dire,” said the Centre for Human Rights and Mediation (CHRM) CEO.
This comes after fifteen Tot High School students were attacked by armed bandits assaulted along with Tot – Arror road in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
“You cannot expect a student in that region sitting for examination with all the psychological torture to go and compete with a student in Nairobi who is enjoying all the peaceful environment for examinations.
He said the government should suspend examinations in the region said region then prepare another special examinations for those children in those regions of Elgeyo Marakwet which insecurity has been the order of the day.
“It is a violation of this student’s rights because education is a right for every child n matter his or her background, they cannot sit for exams when they are mentally tortured and they don’t have anywhere to stay, how do you expect such student to sit for the examination,” he added.
“The government should come out by suspending that examination and they should prepare special examination, this are children who need such consideration in such a time,” he said.
