MP Moses Kuria summoned by IEBC over election rigging claims
He is expected to shed light on the remarks which he insinuated that the 2017 elections were rigged in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s favour.
Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has been summoned by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over utterances he made recently.
IEBC wants Kuria to present himself at its Anniversary Towers headquarters on March 30 to shed light on the remarks which insinuated that the 2017 elections were rigged in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s favour.
“You are hereby required to attend the Offices of the Commission at Anniversary Towers, Commission Boardroom 6th floor on Wednesday the 30th day of March 2022 at 10:00 o’clock,” IEBC said in a statement on Friday.
While making his address then, Kuria alleged that he, alongside other politicians who have now severed ties with President Kenyatta, purportedly rigged the 2017 presidential elections for the Head of State.
“Kuna wengine wanasema ati kura ya mlima itagawanywa. Sisi ndio tulikuwa tukishikilia Uhuru kura, na sisi ndio tulikuwa tunamuibia kura,” Kuria said then.
Kuria was immediately after criticized by Kenyans and politicians allied to President Kenyatta for making the controversial remarks.
