MTRH HOSPITAL WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER.
Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa, MBS, EBS today 14th April 2022 led members of Hospital Management in welcoming newly appointed Board member Mr. Jeremy Oloo, who is alternate member, representing the Attorney-General on MTRH Board.
In his welcoming remarks , Hospital CEO congratulated Mr. Jeremy Zedekiah Oloo for his appointment to the Hospital Board whose role is to provide Oversight and Stewardship in MTRH Governance. Dr. Aruasa also conveyed hearty welcome and congratulations from MTRH Board Chairman Sitoyo Lopokoiyit to Director Jeremy.
Dr. Aruasa enumerated the growth of the Hospital, saying the milestones have been realized because of the Hospital’s prudent use of resources, Culture of Quality & Safety in healthcare provision as well as quality training of healthcare providers and health research.
The CEO also mentioned the interventions the Hospital undertook with support of the Board, one being the headquarters of COVID-19 Response in Western Kenya Region.
“Going by the enormous role of MTRH as an international Public Hospital in the region, coupled with the specialized services offered at affordable rates, the number of new patients recorded every single day exceeds one thousand” Dr. Aruasa said.
The CEO said some of the specialized services now offered in MTRH include; Kidney Transplant, Open Heart Surgery, Corneal Transplant, Shoulder Replacement Surgery amongst others.
As part of its infrastructural development the Dr. Aruasa also mentioned the upcoming MTRH MRI Centre and Financial Centre of Excellence as very progressive projects.
The induction of the new Board member included an extensive tour of the Hospital’s Data Centre, the Renal Unit and Radiotherapy Bunkers.
Director Jeremy was very impressed with the level of development, work efficiency and staff commitment to their work in MTRH, remarking that “ this level of commitment, motivation and passion to work by MTRH Staff is unparalleled, demonstrates excellent Human Resources Management by the Ministry of Health, Hospital Board & Management”.
He also appreciated the high level of support by both local and international partners of MTRH, singling out Indiana University, Indiana, USA(who have constructed Riley Mother & Baby Hospital, Chandaria Cancer & Chronic Diseases Centre, AMPATH Headquarters, Warehouse) ; Shoe 4 Africa Foundation, New York, USA( constructed Shoe 4 Africa Children Hospital and the upcoming Shoe 4 Africa Julie Anne Parry Paediatric Cancer Hospital); Sidekick Foundation( to construct upcoming Harry J. Dyer Paediatric Burns Hospital) as true friends of MTRH. Director Jeremy was privileged to meet and exchange pleasantries with MTRH’s great friend Toby Tanser, the CEO Shoe 4 Africa Foundation who at the time of the tour was present at the Shoe 4 Africa Children Hospital.
Other projects and sections of the Hospital Visited are, the 2,000 LPM Oxygen Generating Plant , Shoe4Africa Children Hospital and the Riley Mother and Baby Hospital (RMBH).
