IEBC Clears Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich To Run For Marakwet East Parliamentary seat on an independent party ticket
Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich has been cleared by IEBC to vie for the Marakwet East Parliamentary seat on an independent party ticket.
Speaking to the press after he was cleared by IEBC, Toroitich thanked his supporter for supporting his bid.
“I want to convey my gratitude to my supporters and IEBC for clearing me to run for the Marakwet West Parliamentary seat on an Independent Party ticket. I want to thank my supporters for turning up in large numbers to come and give me moral support as I contest for the Marakwet West parliamentary seat,” Toroitich said while speaking to the press.
He said despite many procedures to be followed before one is cleared as an Independent candidate the IEBC was tolerant and ensured that we were cleared.
“I have allot of faith that IEBC this time round will conduct free fair and verifiable elections come on the 9th August. We do not want to see what happened in the party primaries where losers were declared winners and vice versa,” Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich added.
He said that he decided to vie as an independent candidate because of the irregularities that were witnessed during the UDA party primaries.
“My supporters have come in large numbers because they believe in my leadership and thye did not like what happened during the UDA party primaries,” he said.
He said that once elected he will ensure that insecurity in Kerio valley is a thing of the past
Toroitich warned those campaigning against independent candidates saying they have a right to be elected just like those from a particular party since they will not be puppets and a leader who stands for their interest
“For those decampaigning against independent candidature, I support Dr William Samoei Ruto 100 percent and for that reason, I request our competitors in UDA when it comes to the support of William Ruto we have no dispute about that kindly but this other seat we will compete,’ he said.
