IEBC CLEARS BUSIA DG FOR GUBERNATORIAL CONTEST

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) today cleared Busia Deputy Governor, H.E Moses Mulomi to contest for Governorship in the August 9th, 2022 General Elections.

His clearance to vie for the seat on Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has brought to an end the push by Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya for him to step down in favour of ODM candidate, Dr Paul Otuoma.

Mulomi who was proposed by Wazir Awilly and seconded by Kenneth Wafubwa is among seven candidates who will battle it out for the coveted top county seat.

Others are Dr Otuoma, John Bunyasi of ANC, Michael Oloo ( NLP), Mogoria Nyongesa (NAP-K), John Chuma ( Independent) and Norman Wandera(Usawa Kwa Wote).

Addressing the press moments after being handed over clearance certificate by Returning Officer, Lazarus Chebii, Mulomi thanked IEBC for the good work, adding that it’s now systems go as he embarks on traversing the county in search of votes from the electorate.

” Having signed the code of conduct, we shall abide by it by observing peace, love and unity during our campaigns. I am up to the task considering that I am a workaholic,” he said.

Mulomi said his government will enforce measures aimed at raising revenue to at least Sh1 billion including completion of trailer parks in Busia and Malaba, avail inputs and fertilizer, construction of two more rice factories and embrace value addition for rice and fish.

The Deputy Governor said his government will endeavour to increase access to quality water, adding that Facility Improvement Fund introduced will allow health institutions to utilize funds at source to end perpetual drug shortage.

H.E Mulomi’s running mate Tom Ipomai said the doubting Thomases who had hoped we shall not be cleared should know that we are in the ballot and we shall not relent in our pursuit to clinch the Gubernatorial seat.

” Peace is critical in Busia which is a cosmopolitan county. A leader who can be able to steer the county to greater heights is H.E Moses Mulomi if elected as the second Governor of the great county of Busia,”he said.

He added:” We love everybody and cohesion is what leaders worth their salt should embrace . The person who can give cohesion priority devoid of threats to civil servants who have their rights in law and the constitution is H.E Mulomi.

H.E Mulomi launched his campaign with the convoy heading to Malaba, Amagoro, Kocholia, Amukura, Nambale and Butula.

At Adongosi, H.E Mulomi said Adongos-Buteba road will be tarmacked, adding that Alupe Mother and Child Specialized Hospital and Amukura Sub County Hospital will be completed, urging Teso South residents to walk with him in his quest to be the second governor.

In Malaba, Mulomi told ecstatic residents that the Malaba Water and Sewerage projects will be completed soon, adding that the County Government will also speed up the establishment of the Malaba Municipality Board to unlock Ksh.200million funding from the World Bank. He added that Malaba Dispensary had been elevated to Health Centre status with Kocholia Sub County hospital also receiving a facelift.

Ipomai likened H.E Mulomi to Biblical Moses who led Israelites to Canan, noting that he is the right person to take over the mantle of leadership from H.E Sospeter Ojaamong.
