Azimio La Umoja Move to Employ More Teachers On Point- Chepkoilel KNUT Boss

The Kenya National Union of Teachers(KNUT) Chepkoilel branch has reacted on theAzimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance manifesto of employing over 300,000 teachers inschools in a period of 100 days when Azimio gets a chance into power.

Speaking to the press executives secretary of KNUT, Sammy Bor appreciated the move made by Azimio as he said it will accommodate the high number of students in schools since there is crowding of students in classrooms forcing teachers to strain.

“As KNUT, we desire to employ more teachers to correspond the number of students in a
Classroom as this will easen the congestion witnessed currently in schools.”said Bor.

Sammy Bor also noted that Azimio would impact education sector by employing more teachers
Because this will cater for anticipated double intake of learners that will be transitioning to
Secondary schools in January 2023.
However, KNUT boss challenged Azimio to find away of sustaining Ksh 9 billion to pay for the tuition fees to fulfill the free education.

“The wage bill is huge already of employing more than300,000 teachers and this will add the
Huge wage bill and could affect other sectors of the economy. “noted Bor.

Bor however says political coalition should be carrying out wide consultation before making
Pronouncements to the citizens on education matters.

The Kenya Kwanza coalition has also promised to revert back gains made through Competency
Based Curriculum(CBC)amove that is likely to correct a lot of confusion in the education
Sector.
