Ainabkoi DCC Accused of Using State Officers to Campaign for the Incumbent MP William Chepkut
Ainabkoi sub-county commissioner has been accused of instructing civil servants to campaign for Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut who is vying on an independent ticket.
The members of public led by Leonard Lang’at accused Deputy County Commissioner, Ainabkoi Sub-County Charles Laboso of clandestinely meeting chiefs and subchiefs on Monday in an elaborate plan to ensure that the incumbent MP is reelected.
They said the move is uncalled for and ill intended.
“We are perturbed by what we witnessed on Monday where the Ainabkoi Sub-County commissioner is openly campaigning for certain candidates that is the incumbent William Chepkut. We want to tell the DCC to keep off politics and focus on fighting illicit brew and ensuring there is adequate security” said Mr. Lang’at.
The DCC is accused of using a government function as a political tool when he presided over the installation ceremony of a sub chief at Chemusian sub location.
“It uncalled for a government officer to campaign for an individual as people of Ainabkoi we are not happy and we will not allow it to happen and if it will continue we will demonstrate on the same. Chepkut is fighting it out with Chepkonga and Terry Maina therefore we need a level playing field,”
The seat has three competitors Samuel Chepkonga on a UDA party ticket, Terry Chebet Maina and William Chepkut both on an Independent Party ticket.
