Governor Lonyangapuo Leads Celebrations to Mark Years of Peace Between This Two Tribes
West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo on Friday led celebrations to mark years of peace between Pokot and Sebei communities living along the Kenya-Uganda border.
During the event, members of the two communities participated in an athletic competition whereby participants were awarded various prizes.
The historical forum was held at Kanyerus Peace Border School which is one of the projects initiated under my administration in pursuit of sustainable peace through education.
The Ugandan delegation was led by RDC Bukwo District Samuel Mpimbaza and LC5 Chelimo Julius. They lauded the commitment shown by both governments in curbing cases of cattle theft which was the major vice fueling insecurity.
“I am happy our cross-border development projects have been instrumental in cementing peace which has in turn led to enormous economic growth in the region,” said the West Pokot Governor.
