There were a series of election security preparedness activities at police establishments in parts of the country as the Service seeks to equip individual police officers with the requisite knowledge and skills on management of election security as we approach the August 9th General Elections.

In one of the exercises at Nyakiana Police Station in Murang’a County yesterday, police officers attended training on protective security and prevention of terrorism in a session conducted by the station’s OCS, Chief Inspector Erick Ngaruthi.
While this was ongoing, Gatanga Sub-County headquarters hosted police officers drawn from different services under the National Police Service for anti riot drills practice.

This was also the case at Kangema Police Station where the OCS, Chief Inspector Joyce Mbote conducted election preparedness lessons.

The NPS is implementing a raft of measures to strengthen the capacity of police units across the country for the coming General Elections. This includes training officers on the contents of the recently launched Election Security Management Manual. We are glad communities across the country have complemented our efforts by inviting our officers to community organized peace and security meetings across the country.
