Eldoret Clergy Warns Politicians Against Dividing Kenyans Ahead of the August Polls
Uasin Gishu Gospel Ministers Chairman Bishop Wilson Kurui has warned politicians against using utterances that might divide Kenyans based on their political or tribal affiliations.
Speaking to the press Bishop Kurui said such utterances are uncalled for and might raise political temperatures are the Country heads to the August polls.
“As religious leaders, we condemn utterances by a section of politicians meant to divide Kenyans based on their political and tribal affiliations. This is uncalled for and instead, they should ask for votes peacefully by selling their manifesto,” said the Uasin Gishu Gospel Ministers Chairman.
He says if this will continue it will raise the political temperature and people should not shed blood because of politics.
“Kenyans should remain peaceful and wait for august polls where they will vote and go home as they wait for elections results and those who will be elected let us support them and the one who will fail should accept defeat,” Bishop Kurui said.
He said Kenyans should not vote for anyone preaching hate messages.
“I Urge IEBC to ensure that there are free and fair elections to prevent chaos and redoing elections and that they should be independent in whatever they do to avoid speculations,’ said the Uasin Gishu Gospel Ministers Chairman Bishop.
He called on youths not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause violence in the August polls noting that youths should engage themselves in constructive activities.
“As we had to the August polls I want to call upon youths across the country to refrain from being used by politicians to cause violence but instead let’s engage in peaceful elections before during and after the August polls,” he says.
