Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Stephen Kihara has refuted claims that he has been holding meetings to campaign for Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.
Speaking to the press Kihara termed the allegations as false and ill-intended only meant to tarnish his good name.

This comes after Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago alleged that the County commissioner was holding a meeting with chiefs urging them to campaign for Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.

“Those raising issues that we are doing meetings with chiefs, that is one of their core mandates since I cannot have a forum without them, thye are my eyes at the grassroots level. We are driving the community to have free will. Chiefs are citizens and we are using them to bring Kenyans together,’ he said.

“If he is sure with what he is saying he should I challenge him to mention the meetings. This is just but a lame excuse he should instead concentrate on looking for votes instead of engaging me,” he added.

He noted that chiefs will continue having meetings with locals in a move of preaching peace and everyone is welcome to attend the meetings.

“We have agreed that every chief should at least have two meetings per week in the remaining days, we want to bring on board everybody who wished to participate,’ said the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
He says he will not interfere with the voting process but only ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful manner.

“My work is to ensure that we have a peaceful election and not to dictate on what or who residents are supposed to vote for. I want to assure residents that the August polls will be peaceful therefore no cause of alarm,” he said.
