Transparency International Kenya Holds MCA Debate in Uasin Gishu as They Put Them to Task

Transparency International Kenya on Monday hold its first MCA debate in Uasin Gishu County where nominees for the position were put to task by their electorates.

The two-hour debate allowed electorates from Kiplombe Ward to interact by asking questions to their leaders.

Speaking to the press Brian Kibia from thee Transparency international said the main ain of the debate id their electorates to do a social audit for their leaders before electing them.

“Leaders are allowed to come and meet with the people and tell them their manifesto and what they would do for them if elected in office.

“It’s a social audit debate which we have started in Kiplombe and we will be doing it for the next six days in the six Sub -Counties in Uasin Gishu County so that we ensure people know their leaders who are
vying for different seats and their manifesto as see how they can help them,” said Kiboi.

The questions that were asked included those on integrity where they agreed to uphold and respect it in case they are elected and ensure that there is transparency.

Five aspirants turned up  for the debate.

“The debate is important since politicians are baler to meet with the electorates and sell their manifestos in a sober way and explain what they are going to do to the electorates. I would like to urge contestants in areas we are visiting to come in large numbers,” he added.

“For now we are doing one session per sub-county we want leaders to respond to the
needs of the people and guarantee them that they are able to deliver on their mandate.

Alphonze Otieno Kiplombe residents and voters applauded Transparency International Kenya for the program saying it will help them know their leaders well.

“We are happy for this program since we were able to interact and ask our leaders questions before electing them. We now know them, what they can be able to do since we have gone through their manifestos,” he said

Margaret Isendi “ We now know our leaders and their intentions. We urge them s to esquire they maintain peace before, during, and after the August polls since we don’t have any spare Country. If we have peace we will have a peaceful election. ”

The event was organised by Transparency Kenya and NCCK.
