IEBC declares three unopposed candidates as duly elected in August polls
Beatrice Kemei who is among the three candidates. She takes office as the Kericho Woman Representative.

In Eldama Ravine Constituency, Julius Kimutai is the MCA for the Ravine; Kemei is the Kericho Woman Representative on the UDA ticket; Issa Aden is the Sabena MCA in Garissa’s Lagdera Constituency on the National Agenda Party ticket.

Due to the lack of competition for the three candidates in the seats they are running for, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has proclaimed them to have been legitimately elected in the general elections held in August.
Beatrice Kemei, Julius Kimutai, and Issa Aden will have an easy time winning their seats, according to a gazette notice published by the commission on Sunday. The commission announced that more than 16,000 candidates will be on the ballot on August 9.

As the area’s female representative, Kemei will represent Kericho in the August House, while Kimutai and Aden will represent the Ravine and Sabena wards in the Baringo and Garissa County Assemblies, respectively.

The three now join the group of politicians who were elected without opposition, including Moses Kuria of Gatundu South and Kimani Ichungwa of Kikuyu.

However Ichungwa is facing a tough contest in the upcoming polls as he will have to battle it out with nine other candidates to retain his position.

Kuria on the other hand is eyeing the Kiambu governorship seat, which is hotly contested by six other members.
