There Will be Peace Before and During The August Polls- Uasin Gishu County Commander
Uasin Gishu County commander Ayub Ali has assured residents of security and safety before, during, and after the 9th August polls.
Speaking to the press at his office Ali said everything is in order and therefore no cause for alarm.
“I want to assure Uasin Gishu residents that there will be peace during and after the August polls and there should not be any cause of alarm since security personnel has been put in place to ensure that there is a peaceful election,” said the Uasin Gishu County Commander.
Uasin Gishu is one of the Counties that was badly affected by the 2007 post-election violence where many lives were lost and thousands were rendered homeless.
He, however, revealed that during the
campaign period no incidences of violence have been reported and every aspirant is campaigning according to the law.
“In the ongoing campaigns, there has not been any political incitement case that has been reported among the political aspirants and their supporters so far, therefore. No single person should feel threatened about the security status in the county since everything is in order” he said.
He further said that they have enhanced surveillance and patrol in the county to ensure that law and order are maintained.
“Patrol cars have been deployed all over the county to ensure that any information a person may have is quickly disseminated to the police and acted upon immediately.”
The national cohesive and integration commission recently listed Uasin Gishu to be one of the violent hotspot counties in Kenya alongside Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Kericho, and Mombasa counties.
