Kenya Seed Company Limited Company has warned farmers against buying seeds from uncertified dealers.
Speaking during the University of Eldoret Agribusiness Trade Fair 2022 Kenya Seed Company Kapsabet Sales Executive James Mudogo said this will ensure that farmers are not conned thus increasing yields.

“I want to call upon farmers from across the country whether small or large scale to ensure that they buy seeds from a certified distributor, agents, and stockiest across the country. We urge farmers to only buy from them to have quality seeds,” Kenya Seed Company Kapsabet Sales Executive.

University of Eldoret Agribusiness Trade Fair 2022 was holding its 15th trade fair.

“When you plant fake seeds you plant that little per acre but when you plant the right seed you are assisting this nation in food security,” he added.
Mudogo says Kenya seeds have scratch-off sticker labels for packages of all certified crops and vegetables.

“After buying any type of seeds from dealers scratch sticker labels with numbers to be sent to code 1393. After sending the code, the name of the manufacturing company, species, variety number, HP class, and testing date is quickly retrieved,” he added.

Many farmers in the region were guided on the best seeds to plant in the places they come from and they were also able to solve various challenges were facing.

“I had a problem with the type of maize that I should plant in Ziwa but after talking to the Kenya seed company I am now happy that the p[roblem has been solved,” said a farmer from Ziwa.
