National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula applauded the clergy and prayers from across the country in ensuring peace and cohesion are maintained in the country during the election period.

Speaking at Koilel where various leaders drawn from the Kenya Kwanza coalition met for a thanksgiving ceremony, to celebrate their victory in the concluded general election Wetangula said their prayers led to the peaceful elections.

“Our Country is a God-fearing nation, it is by your prayers brothers from the church that has brought us where we are. We have been through an election that without prayers probably things would not have been the same. Your prayers descended upon IEBC and they did right, descended upon Supreme Court and they said the truth and the people’s will was upheld.” said the National Assembly speaker.

Citing blessings for the people of Uasin Gishu County, whom he terms lucky for having the president as a resident, the speaker highlighted the great personality of the new president with a mammoth task awaiting the new administration.

“Now we have a new president with a new government, Uasin Gishu you are lucky the president is your resident, the president is your son. Our new president Dr. William Ruto was not chosen because he is Kalenjin, he was chosen because he has ideas, he is wise, he has the ability and he will take this nation forward. There are many people who listened to William Ruto and saw in him the future of this country.

We traversed this country with the people you see here, for the first time a presidential hopeful went and sat with common mwananchi and asked what they wanted to be done.” Added Wetangula.

Expressing optimism about the work that lies ahead of the new government, the speaker was confident that the new government will turn the state of the country around for the better. The third in command asked for more prayers as the work lying ahead is massive.

“We have great expectations out of the elections. We also have serious challenges after the elections. If you find your farm is bad, you have to water it and add manure before you till it. That is where we are at the moment, watering the farms to transform this country. I know without any fear of contradiction, this government will transform this country will turn around this country, revive our economy and put a smile on every Kenyan face because we mean business and your prayers will be fruitful.” he said.
