First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency Leaves Youths Stranded
A section of youths who had applied for various job opportunities overseas through the First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy agency were on Friday stranded after the agency’s offices located at the Eldoret City Plaza Building were temporarily closed.
Through a notice, they have closed until 1st December.
“We are sorry to inform you that we have closed our physical offices from 19th October to Until 1ST December 2022. This is due to the inconveniences caused by contentious demonstrations, the threat of life, and destruction of property,” the notice read.
“Interviews and deployment process is ongoing,” it added.
The complainants were supposed to travel to Qatar to offer their services for five months during the FIFA World Cup in November this year.
John one of them who wanted his identity not revealed said that they have lost hope since only approximately 100 youths out of 2,500 applicants have successfully gotten their Visas and flown to Qatar.
“We were about 2500 youth who were supposed to fly to Qatar out of these number, only 100 were successful for the rest of us our fate is in Limbo, “he said.
According to one of the Parents whose son was supposed to have traveled, they are demanding the recruitment agency to refund them their monies.
“I have come here to plead with the agency to sympathize with my son and me, we struggled to raise the Ksh 40,000 but as of now we have lost trust in the agency, I just want them to give my child his passport”, she said.
