Trans-Nzoia Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkory and her West Pokot counterpart Robert Komolle graced the opening of the Kitale Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) show where they underscored the need to embrace technology in production.

The two leaders were also joined by former nominated senator Ziporah Kittony, Water and Environment County Executive Aggrey Chemonges, ASK Nyeri and Bungoma regional chairmen besides other members.

Kapkory who was crowned as the Kitale chapter ASK deputy patron led the delegation in a round tour of the showground where they were briefed on various agricultural technologies and approaches that enhance production.

“I want to assure the county government’s support on agriculture technology such as application of agricultural technologies and diversification to boost production citing that the region has great potential to produce enough and feed starving regions,” said the deputy governor.

Komolle on the other hand observed that the occasion was a learning experience for farmers as well as the West Pokot county leadership pointing out that his administration will also emulate and expand the event in the semi arid county.

He called for partnerships with the county government of Trans Nzoia just as he urged stakeholders to extend an olive branch and support the local show in West Pokot to be a national event just as the one held in Trans Nzoia.
The leaders were entertained by groups of performers including a mixed police band, scouts and girl guides from Gethsemane school in Eldoret, Agikuyu cultural dancers and music teams from local schools.
Atleast 110 exhibitors, among them seed companies, chemical manufactures, financial institutions, automobile industry players and agricultural institutions exhibited their wares in the four days exercise that commenced on Wednesday
