Uasin Gishu Governmnt to Establish Mama Mboga kiosks
The County Government of Uasin Gishu through the Department of Trade and Industrialization is working on the establishment of Mama Mboga kiosks.
According to Acting Chief Officer for Trade Kipleting Mengich the kiosks will be established in areas that had traditional or informal markets.
“We are going to establish Mama Mboga kiosks in informal areas the move is geared towards realizing Governor Bii’s Nguzo Kumi manifesto on the use of the sub-county development model to drive local economic development,” said the Acting Chief Officer for Trade.
He said this will townships and villages, based on comparative and strategic advantages, placing traders’ stalls on strategic and appropriate streets in consultation with representatives of membership-based organizations of informal traders.
“The department had carried out piloting of at least two kiosks in Moiben Junction and Tugen Estate noting that they are of great help to mama mboga who used to sell their produce on bare grounds,” he added.
