Eldoret Muslim Faithfull Celebrate Maulid in Style, This is Their Message
Hundreds of Muslim faithful in Eldoret on Sunday marked the Maulid Celebrations in style.
The Muslim faithful danced along the streets of Eldoret and thereafter conducted Special prayers for the millions of Kenyans facing a drought that has led to the loss of many lives, animals, and plants.
Led by The National Chairperson of the Muslim Professionals Dr. Hassan Kinyua Omari and the CIPK chairman North Rift region Sheikh Abubakar Bini, the Muslim leaders called on The National Government to ensure that there is a timely distribution of relief food to the affected regions.
“As we celebrate Maulid we Urge Government led by President William Ruto to ensure that the four million Kenyans affected by drought have received relief food on time to prevent more deaths that have been the order of the day due to lack of food. The relief food should also be distributed fairly to all the affected families “Said Sheikh Abubakar Bini.
Dr. Hassan Kinyua called on The National and County Governments to ensure that there is Muslim representation in various job appointments saying a majority have been disenfranchised especially during the employment of civil servants.
“We are urging the Government to ensure our learned Muslim Youth are considered whenever there are appointments or employment opportunities. In the recent appointments Muslims have been neglected therefore we need representation in both the National and County governments, “Said Dr. Kinyua.
The Leaders also urged President Dr. William Ruto to address what they termed as discrimination against the Muslim minorities seeking Passports and other travel documents at the Immigration offices across the county.
“As long as our people have Muslim names they are forced to appear before the vetting committee virtually, the Committee at times takes months just to conduct the vetting exercises and this has continued to affect Kenyan Muslims wishing to travel abroad,” said Sheikh Bini.
Dr. Kinyua Also Urged the Government to consider Madrasa Education under the Competency-based Curriculum (CBC) that will be under review by a Taskforce to be formed by the President to look into the challenges facing its implementation.
