Go for Early cancer screening,Governor Natembeya urges Residents
There is need for early cancer screening to help in treatment for the disease after it is diagonised.
Trans nzoia Governor George Natembeya advised men and women who have attained the age of forty and above to undergo prostate and breast cancer screening respectively to easily enable those affected to be treated and get healed on time.
Natembeya was speaking in Kwanza on Saturday during the burial of former MCA John Likovere,who succumbed to prostate cancer.
“All of us should take an initiative for screening,especially those at forty and above,this is the only way we can to fight this cancer menace”said Natembeya.
The Governor described Likovere as a hardworking and a great lobbyist who contributed a lot towards development when he was at the helm of leadership.
Health CS Susan Nakhumicha and area MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi also attended the function.
Nakhumicha said the National government will collaborate with the county government to better health services for in the area.
She said the government will enhance proper policies in ensuring that cancer treatment is affordable and accessible to ordinary kenyan patients.
The cabinet secretary urged the locals to register with NHIF in large numbers,pointing out that this one way of reducing the cost of medication if one falls sick.
