There are Increased Cases of sexual violence defilement and sodomy in Uasin Gishu

The Uasin Gishu County Assembly committee on Labour, Social Welfare, Gender, and Children Commitee has raised concern over the increased cases of sexual violence defilement, and sodomy in Uasin Gishu County.

Addressing the media at the County Assembly Nominated MCA David Waweru Waiganjo a member of the Committee noted that the Uasin Gishu County Gender officers have decried the rising cases of sodomy among young boys, as well as defilement cases that go unreported.

“As I am talking there is an increased case of sexual violence defilement and sodomy in the County which has contributed to the many cases of teen pregnancies and new HIV infections,” said the nominated MCA.

“We are shocked by the increased cases of SGBV, most of our young boys have become prey for sodomy perpetrators, we must bring these cases to an end, around this festive month most girls do undergo Female genital mutilation, and this harmful practice contributes to HIV infections and other Complications among our girls,” said Hon Waiganjo.

The chairman of Labour, Social Welfare, Gender, and Children chairman Patric Kimeli Kimayo said there is an increased rate of HIV infections and that there will be an allocation of funds that will help in creating awareness the society and the youths.

”There is an increased rate of HIV infections due to increased SGBV cases noted at the county, The county therefore will allocate funds to facilitate contraceptives and creating awareness to the youths and the society” , said chairman PatricKimeli Kimayo.


Naomi Serem said parents should create awareness among their children on HIV infections and what thye should do to prevent it.

“Parents should create awareness on the effects of HIV infections since most girls fear pregnancies than getting infected with HIV virus and also ignoring the regulations of HIV infections, “said Serem.
Member of County Assembly Patrick Kipchumba Kebenei MCA Simat Kapseret ward said donors should not pull out but instead continue donating contraceptives like condoms due to the increased rate of HIV infections.

“Donors should not pull out, they have to continue working with the government in donating contraceptives and even creating awareness to the society and the youths on regulations of HIV infections”, said Patrick Kipchumba Kebenei MCA Simat Kapseret ward.
