3 Catholic Nuns Perish in Road Accident

Three Catholic nuns from Nandi County have perished in a road accident Saturday morning.

The accident occurred at Kaptendon near Arwos trading centre in Emgwen constituency, Nandi County.

The accident involved a Prado which was heading to Nairobi and a Toyota Fielder ferrying the Catholic sisters heading to an ordinations ceremony of one of the church leaders in the region.

The Prado collided head-on with a Toyota fielder leaving several other passengers with injuries.

Nandi governor Stephen Sang mourned the demise of the deceased.

“On my behalf and that of the County Government of Nandi, I wish to convey our heartfelt message of condolence to the families of the late Sister Angela Jelimo, Sister Faith Chebotip of Franciscan Sisters and Victorine Jeruto who was set to join sisterhood,” he wrote.

“The trio met their untimely death today in a tragic road accident.We also wish speedy recovery and God’s healing to Sister Margaret Jemutai who is currently admitted and receiving medical attention in hospital.May the Almighty God grant comfort to the bereaved families and the Catholic church during this trying moment of sorrow,” he added.
