Falcons win over Nyuki
Eldoret Falcons beat Nyuki Starlets 2-0 in women division one match played on Sunday at Moi Marula primary school.
The season’s opening match for both teams was highly contested with the hosts emerging the better side.
Falcons took a lead late in the second half through Vion Odera’s volley.
Five minutes to stoppage time, Falcons placed the match beyond reach for the visitors when their new signing Mildred Simiyu dribbled passed Nyuki’s defense before curving a low-placed shot passed the goalkeeper.
Eldoret Falcons coach Albert Cheserek hailed praises to his side for executing plans as laid out during week’s long training.
“It’s our first game of the season, we are trying out our squad but I’m happy they are progressing well,” he said.
Cheserek said that he’s keen on returning to the premier league and will be having different approaches to different opponents.
“It’s our second season in women division one after relegation and we take seriously every opponent we face,” he added.
Nyuki Starlets coach George Omukanda attributed the loss to unpreparedness for the season.
“We have had challenges with registration of players and with the squad depth,” he said.
Omukanda said that he would pick up lessons from the first game and have better preparations for his first home match next week.
” I thank the hosts for a good game, I have noted the areas I have to work on for a better performance in our next match,” he added.
In other women division one zone B matches, Gusii Starlets beat Solasa 2-1 as the newly promoted side Kolwa Falcons won 2-0 away to Vihiga Leeds.
