What I Have Done to The People of Uasin Gishu Since I Took Over- Governor Jonathan Bii
Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii now says his government is making huge strides in governance and all in line with my Nguzo Kumi pillars.
He says so far with less than 100 days in office, his administration has managed to streamline the purchase and delivery of drugs directly to health facilities.
Governor Bii noted that Health is a devolved function and it is the wish of every citizen to access quality services promptly
“We have also brought back the Revolving Fund Pharmacy, all meant to avail drugs for chronic diseases, at affordable prices. My administration endeavors to ensure that all facilities are fully equipped with the latest technology as well as having additional personnel to promote health care.
The Uasin Gishu governor noted that all roads in the County will be graded.
“Similarly, grading exercise of our roads across the six sub-counties is ongoing for ease of transportation of goods to the market and accessibility purposes,” he added.
His administration has also appointment of 1287 Early Childhood Development Education(ECDE) teachers on permanent and pensionable terms who have been serving over 36,170 children across the County.
Governor Bii said that his administration is also working on a school feeding plan to improve children’s nutrition. This program is part of his 10-pillar manifesto-Nguzo Kumi.
He said his adminstration has started the process of County bursary award to students from the needy background and issuance of cheques to the beneficiaries shall be commence by the time schools open in January.
“I have operationalized the Revolving Fund Pharmacies across the eight county health facilities and also launched the annual grading program and our machinery is currently opening and improving our roads across all the Sub counties,” he said.
Bii said he is strengthening and implementing policies related to the Agriculture sector in order to ensure that our farmers benefit from the best animal breeds, better feeds and food prices for our produce. We are also keen on value addition and cultivation of high value crops.
“Since i took over I have issued cheques worth Ksh 46 million to Cooperative societies across the Sub Counties. On water provision, drilling of boreholes and de-silting of dams on areas prone to drought and water shortage,” he added.
He noted that he has continued to engage investors and partners as well as sought opportunities for our young people.
“I have signed several MOUs with universities to enable our students study and work in Canada and i am Working closely with the department of youths to promote innovation and support them in their programs so that they can be self reliant,” Uasin Gishu Governor said.
He further said that his administration has Conducted medical camps with an objective of offering free treatment and conducting surgeries.
“1,400 screens have been conducted and 69 surgeries successfully carried,” he said.
