Introduction of the Office of the Opposition Leader On Point-MCA Simat Kapseret
Simat Kapseret Ward MCA Moses Kipchumba Kibenei has supported the move to introduce the office of the Opposition leader.
Speaking at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Kebenei said the office of the opposition leader will set a platform for opposition leadership to bargain and push the development agenda.
“The move by president William Ruto to send an amendment for the introduction of the office of the opposition leader is on point since he will keep the government in check. If I were a member of parliament, I would support the move to introduce the office of the opposition leader,” said Kebenei.
“The main reason why we need opposition leadership in our country is to help the government to be in check. Opposition leadership has a legal right to countercheck the government, not necessarily by demonstration and protest,” he added.
He further said that opposition leaders should have offices of their own and get privileges like other leaders in the country including security, and its own budget.
“Opposition leadership should be given a chance to address the Legislature and the senate. It should be made known that if one loses the presidential seat, that candidate becomes an automatic opposition leader whose roles and duties are enshrined in Kenya’s Constitution,” he said.
He however warned the opposition leader Raila Odinga against misleading its supporters misleading its supporters on not paying back the hustler Fund.
“I also want to urge all Kenyans to take the Hustler Fund, use it in an appropriate manner, and refund the government of the Hustler funds it owes. The opposition should not otherwise cocoon your minds on not paying it back as such is equally important in self-growth and development,” added Moses.
