Raila Odinga Meets Germany Ambassador to Kenya, This is What They Discussed
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party Leader Raila Odinga mey with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya Mr. Sebastian Groth.
Odinga and the ambassador reiterated the imperative for Germany to expand the involvement of its private sector in business and trade opportunities in Kenya.
Odinga asked the envoy to encourage Germany to drop its cautious approach to investing in Kenya.
He also challenged Germany to open its doors to Kenyans in the area of technical education and vocational training, where Germany is a global leader.
He called for more German investment in the fields of clean energy generation, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism and healthcare. He called on Germany to shift investment priorities from Asia to Kenya and Africa.
The envoy and Odinga agreed that Kenya needs to do more with regard to ease of doing business and called focus on lowering the cost of energy, ease of licensing for new business, certification and lessening bureaucracy in trade and investment operations.
The two also exchanged views on political developments in the country since August elections and the years ahead.
