President Ruto Applauds Newly Graduated 2881 Police Officers
President William Ruto on Tuesday presided over the passing out parade of 2,881 new police officers at a colourful ceremony held at the National Police Service Main Campus- Kiganjo.
President Ruto congratulated the officers for being tried, tested and successfully completing their course, and demonstrating their mettle over a vigorous 9-month training.
“Your graduation is a critical milestone that would enhance the police-public ratio and align with the evolving security needs and policing approaches,” said president Ruto
He, however, cautioned the officers to be conscious of the immense powers that come with police work and advised the officers to exercise their authority responsibly, with dedication, selflessness, integrity and patriotism.
President Ruto urged the officers to acquaint themselves with the provisions of the National Values and Principles of Governance set out in article 10 of the constitution.
“This will assist you in remaining conscious of the commitment to deliver a new citizen centred, service oriented and human rights respecting policing and security paradigm that keeps the Republic of Kenya and its people safe without sacrificing their rights and freedoms,” said President Ruto.
The Head of State appreciated the sacrifices made by police officers across the country and for their readiness to put their lives on the line for the safety and security of Kenyans.
Cabinet Secretary for Interior Prof Kithure Kindiki, thanked President Ruto for his support, guidance and direction as the Interior ministry addresses the security challenges faced by Kenyans. “We assure you as the vision carrier of the National Security we will work harmoniously and in synergy to ensure we support the government to realize peace, security and tranquility in the country,” assured the Interior Cabinet secretary.
Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome assured the Head of State that the National Police Service would continue delivering on its mandate to Kenyans without prejudice adding that the journey towards fully professionalizing the Service was on-course.
