Solasa, Eldoret Falcons shine as Gene Queens flops
Women division one Eldoret based teams staged mixed performance in league fixtures played over the weekend.
Solasa stima queens narrowly edged league debutant Kisped 1-0 at Eldoret Show ground on Saturday.
Phelister Atitwa’s 48th minute goal was all the home team needed to contain the vibrant on form lakeside team.
Newly promoted side Gene queens lost at home to visiting Kolwa Falcons on Sunday at Uasin Gishu primary school.
According to Gene Queens’s team manager Anderson Sango, the loss was attributed to fatigue brought by congestion in fixtures.
‘The girls have been playing head to head and fatigue in one way or another has contributed to our loss today,” he said.
Gene Queens joined the league late and are having to contend with a backlog of fixtures to catch up the rest of the teams.
Kolwa Falcons head coach Zack Odida congratulated his side for hard work on the defense and capitalizing on each chance they got.
“We came to this match from a high scoring draw of 3-3 against Soccer Assassins and have been working on our defense since we are able to score goals.
Odida said that the challenge to women football today is economical but not tactical as it was some years back.
‘ I urge sponsors and well wishers to come on board and help in women football as it has improved so much and teams are struggling financially, ” he said.
Elsewhere in Moi Marula primary school Eldoret Falcons got all three points as Vihiga Leeds failed to turn up for the round five league match.
Solasa stima queens will play Gene Queens on Wednesday at Eldoret show grounds
