CDF Women Football Competition Kicks Off at 81 Tank Battalion Lanet

The opening game of the Chief of Defence Forces 2023 Women Tournament began in a spectacular fashion with Isiolo Team and Moi Airbase treating spectators to a fantastic match at the 81 Tank battalion sports ground in Lanet, Nakuru county.

The early morning fixtures saw both teams battle for the crucial win with the game ending to a barren draw in the first half.

In the second half at 78th minute, Corporal Perila Dama scored for Isiolo team after their midfield tactician Corporal Josphine Kerubo, with her splitting passes, released a superb touch to Dama who inturn converted it to a goal.

The afternoon contest spotted Kahawa Garisson thrush their Marsabit counterparts 3- 0, Nanyuki and Mtongwe settled on one a piece, Lanet beat new debutants Wajir Airbase 5_0, Modika surprised Nairobi team with 3-0 win , Laikipia Airbase and Manda base settled for barren draw.

During the opening of the ceremony, Brigadier John Nkoimo the Deputy Commandant Kenya Military Academy, on behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi observed that the football women edition offers an opportunity for individual players to renew their talents by engaging in various sporting activities.

He at same time welcomed the new entrant Wajir Airbase into the competition.

The three weeks exercise seeks to spot best talents for eventual recruitment into Ulinzi Starlets as well as promoting gender mainstreaming within the Kenya Defence Forces.
