Gitali: Tighten Noose on Tobacco Products
The Kenya Tobacco Control and Health Promotion Alliance, an organization that brings together willing non-state organizations that are involved in tobacco control, while presenting their submissions called on the government to make tobacco and alcohol products less affordable and accessible, by imposing higher taxation, which will decrease demand thereby reducing the burden of related health issues and associated healthcare costs. Tobacco use is a leading cause of preventable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and respiratory disorders.
