President Ruto Outlines Development Plans For Busia County
President William Ruto has promised to change the face of Busia by bringing various development projects which will also economically empower the youths.
While addressing Busia residents from the seven sub- counties who congregated for interdenominational prayers and thanksgiving that were organized at Busia stadium, the president promised to change the fortunes of Busia youths through ICT hubs that will be established in all the seven sub- counties to help youths access digital hubs and earn through online jobs.
” Another technique I will use to create employment is through farming of crops that produce edible oils, Kenya has been exporting edible oils while Busia residents have fertile soil that can produce simsim, groundnuts and sunflower among other crops that are good for edible oil production,” he affirmed.
He also revealed that an industrial park will be constructed to help in processing of the edible oils. He also revealed that tender advert for the construction of Export Processing Zone (EPZ) at Nasewa was made last week on Friday.
The President promised to dual the Customs to Korinda road as soon as possible and afterwards Malaba town will also get a dual carriage way form Malaba border to Kimaeti.
“So far 42 counties have agreed on the housing bill, Busia will have 5,000 units, 20,000 youths are needed and they will help in construction of those houses, this is a deliberate plan to create jobs to the youths who are not employed,” he insisted.
He also promised to consider water projects among them Angololo dam and the Lower Nzoia irrigation scheme to help in rice production.
Busia Governor, Paul Nyongesa Otuoma thanked the President for coming for the prayers and welcomed him for a tour of development projects in the county.
