DG Erus Launches Initiative to Revitalize Education in the County
Deputy Governor Dr John Erus has today launched an inspection of materials for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), laying the foundation for a coordinated and progressive approach to education in the region
The initiative was made possible through the generous support of UNICEF, which provided essential instructional materials for fostering effective learning.
The launch showcased the remarkable achievements resulting from coordination, progression, and partnership, with World Food Program for their generous car donation, which will play a critical role in providing logistical support.
Expressing his gratitude, DG Erus thanked the partners for their unwavering support and acknowledged their contribution to the agenda of revitalizing education through early childhood development and education programs.
DG Erus highlighted the key directives stemming from important meetings he attended, including the Council of Governors and the European Union. The administration has been actively advocating for increased support in terms of food, learning materials, and funds to bolster the education sector while also pushing for comprehensive support in healthcare.
DG Erus expressed his commitment to setting up a foundation that will spearhead positive change and development in Turkana County. He also emphasized the importance of an exchange program, proposed by the Governor, to nurture skills and provide valuable learning opportunities for the community.

She urged teachers and parents to collaborate and work together in their joint efforts to ensure children excel in schools. Furthermore, she challenged the partners to extend their support to grassroot schools, fostering better education for all.
The First Lady emphasized the need to cater to children with disabilities, advocating for the construction of schools tailored to their unique needs and ensuring equal access to education.
Prioritizing health, she urged teachers and parents to take the initiative in ensuring children receive proper healthcare, including vaccination.
The First Lady highlighted the pressing issues of water, food, and healthcare, which the administration, under Lomurkai’s leadership, is dedicated to addressing.
Chief Officer for Education,Early Childhood and social protection, Korea Etelej Moses, emphasized the significance of revitalizing education and reaffirmed his commitment to monitoring its progress.
Reading the speech of CEC Leah Audan, Etelej emphasized the importance of providing quality pre-primary education and social protection, calling for concerted efforts to establish a strong foundation in ECDE.
He praised the stakeholders’ forum on ECDE and stressed the paramount importance of enacting ECD policies, an area in which the World Food Program has been actively involved.
Acknowledged the county privilege in hosting the upcoming 5th ECDE National Conference in July
The event was attended by senior county government officials, Board Chair Pauline Ekod, and stakeholders from UNICEF and the World Food Program.
