Menengai Oilers who are the National 7s Circuit defending champions begun their training about five weeks ago as they await for Eldoret.

Ahead of the 2023 Embu 7s tournament scheduled to take place at the Njukiri ASK showground on Saturday 10th June 2023, Menengai Oilers coach, Gibson Weru, has specified the reason for taking part in the tournament after producing a dual team.

The team is expected to play against eight out of the twenty teams that have confirmed their participation in the tournament since the team is divided into Menengai Cream pool B and Menengai Zuri pool E
“We have seen exciting young players who are very talented putting in a lot of work during training and we will be taking two teams just to give everyone an opportunity to play,” said Gibson Weru.

He has also said that they are back and ready to defend the Nationals 7s Circuit title in the National 7s Circuit tournament scheduled to start on the 24th and 25th of this month in Eldoret.

“The tournament will help me focus on the defensive nature of the team and help in making necessary improvements as we aim for the win in the Circuit as am not much concerned with the tournament’s results,” added Weru.
