County government officials who fail to adhere to professionalism and a code of ethics will face disciplinary action, according to Public Service Management (PSM) Chief Officer Kennedy Etiang.

Speaking to a group of employees at the official closure of a one-day training in Kitale on communication, Etiang emphasized the importance of ethics and compliance with established rules and regulations for every employee.

“I am pleased that today we have learned a lot from this training and previous ones. From now on, anyone who violates the code of ethics and displays misconduct will be appropriately dealt with,” said Etiang.
He mentioned that his department has made training a priority for all county employees to enhance their skills.
Etiang challenged communication officers, who are responsible for writing news and development stories, to maintain objectivity in their coverage.
During the workshop’s opening, County Secretary Truphosa Awuor, PSM Chief Executive Committee (CEC) Sam Ojwang, and Governance Chief Officer Sammy Sichangi reiterated the importance of working diligently, practicing discipline, and fostering a sense of camaraderie among colleagues.
“Let us appreciate one another because there is always something good in each one of us,” said the county secretary.

Sichangi highlighted the ongoing process of learning and encouraged county government employees to seize every opportunity to enhance their skills, ensuring effective performance in their roles.

The training encompassed various aspects of communication, including its applications, effective communication techniques, messaging, and branding related to Governor George Natembeya and the Trans Nzoia County government.
The workshop was facilitated by Prof. Masibo Lumala from Moi University’s Department of Communications and journalism expert Tom Mushindi. PSM sponsored the event.

Prof. Lumala emphasized the importance of communication officers exploring and amplifying the voices that are often neglected in various aspects of the county.

This approach would enable the creation of impactful stories and effective promotion of the “George Natembeya and County Government of Trans Nzoia” brand.
