Gifted and Talented Cheelachbei Pupils Receive Support
Cheplelachbei Primary School pupils – Ian Lagat, Elvis Lagat and Abel Kipchumba – who took social media by storm with their impressive reporting skills, have received support from the County Government of Nandi.
Today, a team led by the CEC Member for Education Scolastica Tuwei and the Chief Officer Joseph Kipchumba, visited the school to deliver support from H.E Governor Stephen Sang to the boys and their families.
Items delivered included school uniforms for each of the three pupils, school fees balance and food items required of them by the school, as well as assorted household items for their families.
The Education CEC Member Scolastica Tuwei thanked the young learners for using their talents well. “Parents and teachers can engender a growth mind-set in children, by telling success stories that emphasize hard work and love of learning, and by teaching them about the brain as a learning machine,” she noted.
One of the boys’ parents, Teresa Koech, said that her children are fond of listening to the radio and are harbouring journalistic dreams. She thanked the governor for the generous support they received.
On his part, the the school head teacher underscored the impact that the CBC curriculum has had on the pupils, saying that it has helped foster development of crucial soft skills such as communication and collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, imagination and creativity, citizenship, learning to learn, self-efficacy and digital literacy. “This has helped the boys nurture their talents,” he noted.
