County Intensifies Missing Findings in Private Facilities
The County Government of Uasin Gishu has intensified findings of missing Tuberculosis cases in all private and faith-based organizations, a move geared at suppressing the disease by 2035.
Speaking during a technical working group meeting for private facilities at Reformed Church of East Africa, Director of Promotive and Preventive Health, Dr Evans Kiprotich, emphasised the need for screening all patients who are treated in private facilities for Tuberculosis noting that private facilities handle a big segment of the population.
“The sample referral network has been extended to private facilities through the hiring of two riders to ferry samples to gen expert and truenut sites and the results are relayed back to clinicians through messages and email within 24hrs,” says Dr Kiprotich.
According to County TB Coordinator Charles Makwila, in the period between January and May, the private facilities have diagnosed 119 clients who have been put in treatment and through the support of The National Empowerment Network of People living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya (NEPHAK) 97 private facilities have been mapped and enrolled to TB control program.
NEPHAK also supports capacity building, Staff motivation, Communication and contact management for household contacts.
The County is racing towards ending TB by 2035 as envisaged by the end TB strategy and vision. YES, WE CAN END TB.
