Huruma Ward MCA Wakili Kimani Wanjohi has condemned the County Government of Uasin Gishu for removing signage ahead of the devolution conference.

A number of signage in the county have been destroyed as Eldoret prepares to be a city.
Wanjohi while speaking to the press said the move is uncalled for and ill-intended.

Big companies such as Equity Bank, co-operative Bank, Access Bank, and even Khetias supermarket have fallen victim to having their signages broken.

“I want to condemn this act with the strongest terms possible, how can a business person p[ay over Kshs.50,000 to Ksh.100,000 for advertising their businesses and just destroy it? This is uncalled for and stern actions should be taken against those involved,” said the Huruma Ward MCA.

“I am still wondering why they would destroy the signages claiming they want to urbanize Eldoret yet beauty in Nairobi is from the signageS. How will someone be able to identify where they may be heading? The signages are for direction and advertising so I do not see the reason why they destroyed them.”

He called upon the business persons affected to take the matter to the court for compensation where they will demand special damages and a restraining order to the county government against illegal destruction.

“Over 200 businesses have been affected by the illegal destruction within the CBD but fortunately after the uproar they stopped the actions,” added Kimani Wanjohi.
