Stop participating in destroying the only home we have-Benjamin Zulu
Fellow Kenyans, stop participating in destroying the only home we have
.
Otherwise, we will be homeless on the face of the earth.
I’m not taking the side of government or opposition. I’m speaking about us as Kenyans. We all feel the pinch of high cost of living, but I’m concerned that we get emotional and go on a rampage without seeing how this will only make matters worse. We should be rational and reasonable in exercising our rights.
The opposition has valid points, but they should use the established channels to oppose government. You can not resist the government by destroying a country. That’s like saying that because you don’t like how a ship is being operated, you’ll sink it.
We’re not saying that the opposition is burning the country directly, but that their calling for mass action has proven deadly for the nation because other elements keep infiltrating it to steal and destroy.
As patriots who care about the country, the opposition should stage their issues in parliament and oppose the motions there. This will directly be felt by the government without destroying a nation. They should move to courts like they’ve been doing in part. Mass action doesn’t work in third world because of high levels of opportunistic criminals who seize the opportunity to loot and destroy properties of innocent people. We’ve seen deaths and blatant looting already, and there are areas where tensions are rising. That’s not what we want as citizens.
The opposition’s aim is obviously not to destroy, but their approach is indirectly causing destruction because other unscrupulous people are riding on the action to cause mayhem.
Peace is delicate, and if we don’t jointly protect it, we will perish together like fools.
And you, common citizens like myself, why are you rejoicing at destruction and taking it as sport when you see riots and fires and stone throwing? Don’t you know that these politicians will just board planes and leave the country? Don’t you know that it’s us who can not air lift ourselves and our children who will be left dying here? Don’t you know that civil war spreads like wildfire, and although sparking it is easy stopping it may be extremely difficult?
Why are you being casual with such a dire matter? Why are you cheering on when people are building tensions in your only sanctuary? Do you have an overseas account? Can you pay air tickets tomorrow and set up your family in other countries in a week? So why are you adding fuel to the fire people are setting on your home?
Today, we’ll gather in churches and pray for our nation. But I ask us that after we pray, let’s play our part individually as well. Let us shut our mouths from joking with this grave issue. Stop validating maandamano as though it were a holiday. That’s a disaster you’re playing with. Instead, use your mouth to speak sense to those next to you. Tell them of other failed nations and remind them that Rwanda Massacre started with this kind of bickering and senseless taking of sides.
Once more, it’s either we change or sink.
Do not reply to this by quoting the cost of living or the prices of anything. Once this country disintegrates, you will have nowhere to buy those things and no government to protest against. You won’t be able to go to work or leave your house. You’ll run broke and starve with your family.
We have many nations to learn from today, and you can take a look on your phone.
Opposition should be systemic and civil, not chaotic and destructive.
