Bishop Kieru On Conflict In Marriage

The Apostolic Bishop of Kenya Assemblies of God Nyahururu District His Grace Bishop Simon Kieru has taken a moment to share with us the causes of conflicts in marriage.

“Causes of Conflict in Marriage

Personality: Couples’ perceptions, thoughts, values, and feelings which influence how they interpret conflict situations and can strongly shape the outcomes of conflicts (Miller and Perman 2008, Articles).

Money: Financial management (Differing spending habits). So many couples fight due to failure to manage their financials amicably, maybe because finances are insufficient or sufficient but there are no common family spending habits. Lack of communication can also cause conflicts when it comes to financial management.

Sex: Unfaithfulness and lack of sexual fulfillment between couples triggers conflict. This plays a central role in bringing marriage conflicts more so when a couple is characterized by constant quarrels. Normally sex thrives well in a friendly environment and as a result, the cycle repeats itself.

Communication: Ineffective communication between couples can harm marriage in a variety of ways. A couple that does not have smooth communication, will always conflict because every kind of friendship is boosted by proper communication and sharing of plans and interests.”
