The Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Hon Florence Bore graced the World Day against Trafficking in Persons and officially launched the third National Plan of Action on Trafficking in Persons (2022-2027) accompanied by the Principal Secretary for Social Protection and Senior Citizens Affairs Joseph Motari .

Trafficking in Persons is a global crisis that affects nearly every country in the world.

The government has ratified the 2005 United Nations Palermo Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children , reviewed the Counter Trafficking in Person Act 2010 to align to the Constitution, address existing gaps and incorporate emerging issues, Established the Counter Trafficking in Persons Advisory Committee and Established and operationalized the National Assistance Trust Fund among other measures to address trafficking in persons in the country.

He says the Plan of Action is anchored on the pillars of prevention, protection, prosecution and partnerships and will guide stakeholders in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the Counter Trafficking in Persons strategies and interventions in Kenya.

Waziri thanked the actors who have continued to collaborate with the Ministry to combat this heinous act.
