Wa Muratha Keen To Salvage The Boychild
Kiambu County Member of Parliament The Honorable Ann Muratha has taken an ambitious initiative in her shoulders aimed at salvaging the Boychild from the yoke of the social ills bedeviling him, key among them being depression.
The Woman Representative, who is a respected counsellor in a candid conversation with residents of Kabete sub-county, belaboured on the issue of mental health and how to enhance it through a multi-pronged, pragmatic approach.
The Hon Woman Representative noted,
“Depression has stolen one more of our Kiambu sons here at Nyathuna ward, Kabete.
As a mother, am pained. No parent should have to bury their child, and worse still, through the circumstances that led to 35 year old, Samuel Kamau Njoroge’s death. He was a dad of 3
As the county member of Parliament in Kiambu, mental health has been in my heart and it’s one of my first agendas as a leader. We MUST put a stop to the stigma, the shame, and the ostracizing of our own loved ones who are suffering depression.”
She at the same time alluded to another ambitious project that she has recently launched, “Mama Boys Mashinani” aiming at bringing stakeholders together in a bid to chart the way forward in tackling mental health.
She urged parents and especially mothers not to give up on their children even if they have been enslaved by alcohol.
“You should be the strong pillar on which your son can lean. Don’t rebuke nor curse him. All they want to be shown is love, care and mentorship.” The Hon Ann Muratha concluded
